Today Guitar Player "Google"

Try this. Google "God." Just for Laughs, go to Google and type in God's time, attention to the drop-down menu below. This is where Google beats machine interface suitable for the most popular sites that have most likely entered the search term.

If you enter a search for God, what is the recommended number one hits for your search ?.... GoDaddy!

Now do not get me wrong, I am a big fan of GoDaddy, and a customer as well - but when I look to God, I do not expectGoDaddy to find him.

And yes, I know what the first three letters of GoDaddy, but it seems strange to you that this site has been number one, before God related sites?

This is a telling commentary on life in today's highly technological age. When a search for God can give us directly to a website domain registration, how can we be sure that all the information we seek to bring us the information "right".

What has to do with gamesGuitar? Do a search on Google the term "A-string." As I write this, a search for "One Chord" returns 5.3 million pages! Yes, the "millions".

It is conceivable that 5.3 million options in order to show how sound an agreement? How do we know that there are millions of sites, which show us the "right" way to play an Agreement?

Did you know that the term "Google guitarist"? This term refers to engaging today's generation of guitarists, from around the you-HopSite to site, taking pieces of YouTube videos, blogs and free lessons - all under the assumption that in fact "learn" to play the guitar.

The problem of course is that, even if this generation of 'Google guitarist "often do not learn how to play little snippets of songs, licks and riffs, rarely get a full understanding on the guitar techniques and concepts that take the level of really getting an experienced guitar "player".

Those of usWitness "baby boom" generation will have the unique opportunity to create a world that has changed rapidly, perhaps more than any other generation in history.

We can still remember the Kennedy assassination, and a time when the moon landing was a "distant goal". We remember only the three main television stations, if we had to adjust the rabbit ears on our set black and white. Back when we had rotary phones and connected with wires.

We can fast track our tripmedium in the information age after which we listened to our music. In the 60 years that we had heard recordings and scratchy transistor radio tuned to AM stations. In 70 years we have seen the assault of 8-track tapes. Then took boxes and dominated, only to be defeated is a CD. Now the momentum of MP3 files, and iPod downloads are slow to send the CD is the way of the dinosaurs.

The guitar learning methods of our generation have been drastically different in those days, whenwell. In 70 years when I picked up a guitar, there was no Internet, no video lessons, TAB is not in use, with no animated graphics guitar, no tuner and DVDs online.

We basically had two choices. Take lessons from a teacher or learn to play guitar by yourself. Most of us have the second.

At that time you learn to play guitar bent over a turntable, to listen carefully placing the needle on a record with a lift, then lift the needle and try tounderstand how to play what you just heard. Then repeat the process - over and over and over again - until you can play the song, or until the disc was scratched beyond recognition.

With this method, we have learned the licks of Clapton, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Beck and Santana - and we were greeted by guitarist intense "focus" on one thing at a time. We had no choice, no choice without any distractions.

While there are numerous benefits for todayInformation Age. But the amount of information "too much", and if you cross the border to "information overload", the digest of the brain can not produce any real information?

For today's "Google-guitarist" - if you feel overwhelmed, if you have tried to learn the guitar leaping over the net, if you feel frustrated by the lack of progress - there is a word that you created should write in bold and tape on the wall ... FOCUS.

This is really the biggest difference betweenthe "old school" method of learning the guitar and the new one. The enormous amount of information available at your fingertips makes the ability to "focus" on one thing for a long time a great challenge.

If you really have the desire to become an accomplished guitar player, choose your path and stick with it. If it is an online learning program, a DVD home study course, private lessons and music books - you spend all your time and energy to focus on a course ofAction.

Develop the ability to "focus" with tunnel vision, wearing blinders to the rest of the digital world - take a safe route for a "Google-guitar" to a "real" guitar players!
